1. Your Greater Midwest Dart Association
The dart league known as GMDA, is a private enterprise solely owned and operated by Greg Hertlein and Greater Midwest Dart Association LLC.
GMDA’s goal is to promote a league where the players are the most important aspect. Where the money would stay in a local setting and have better pay-outs. They want to create an atmosphere where the dart players could have an enjoyable time and be proud of their league owner/operator.
A. The owner/operator shall resolve any uncertainties, interpret the rules as well as make decisions that are in the best interest of GMDA, GMDA players and participating pubs. The Comissioners decisions are final.

2. MEMBERSHIP
Membership in GMDA is open to all persons 21 years of age and above regardless of skill level. Membership can be denied / revoked by the league owner/operator if in his opinion said player displays un-sportsman-like conduct, acts in a manner detrimental to the overall goals as set forth by GMDA
3. Bar Sponsorship
Sponsorship shall be granted to any organized bar, pub, club or organization for which an application has been made provided that said sponsorship is acceptable to the owner / operator. A league fee of $25 for each team.
4. League Schedules
A. GMDA will establish leagues by separating play relative to geography, week night etc.
B. GMDA shall construct the schedule of play as soon as possible after all teams are established.
C. Copies of the schedule shall be published to Captains, Pubs and on www.gmdastl.com website prior to the beginning of play.
D. All matches MUST be played at the designated pub on the night specified unless rescheduled and approved by GMDA. No reschedules without GMDA approval first.
5. Team Averages
A. Until everyone has played one full session, we will be using the other local leagues ppd’s average to determine your PPD. Players will use this (other leagues ppd) avg. until you have played 3 weeks, then after 3 weeks you will use your current ppd average for first 3 weeks. Players Cricket Average will be the same as the 301 average until a cricket average is established. This will be after 6 cricket games are played.
B. If you have not played in league before or we cannot find an 301 average for you, then you will play as a 18 for males and 15 for females until you have 3 weeks played then you will use your current PPD 301 average.
C. The 301 average cap is 99 per team.
1. 301 Average cap is determined by adding the top 4 highest averages on the team
D. There is no penalty if your team goes over the cap after the season has started, as long as your team is an 100 or less at the start of the season, but if at the end of the season your team is higher than an 100 then you will need to dissolve the team to meet the cap requirements.
E. There is no cap on how high your personal 301 average can go, and the lowest you can go as a male is 15 average and as a female is 12 average
F. Cricket Average cap is 100 per team.
1. Cricket Average cap is determined by adding the top 4 highest averages players on the team.
G. There is no cap on personal cricket averages. The lowest cricket average for any player will be 12.
6. Weekly Fees
A. A weekly fee of $28 will be collected every week during the season from each team. Fees will be paid every week except for the last week of payoffs.
B. If weekly fee are not paid, the team will not be able to play until the fees are in good standing.
7. Sponsor fees
A. A sponsor fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00) per team per season nonrefundable shall be paid to GMDA upon application, Team sponsor fee must be paid before play begins. The sponsor is under no other financial obligation to GMDA although the sponsor agrees to comply with section 5.0 titled Equipment. Team drinks are at the home bar’s discretion, they are not mandatory!
8. Membership dues
A. Any person wishing to become a member of GMDA may do so by applying through any one of the sponsored teams, and paying a non refundable five dollars ($5.00) per season fee. Membership fees must be paid by the end of play on the 3rd week. If not paid the player is ineligible to play.
B. No checks will be accepted! Only checks from bar sponsors will be accepted.
9. Captain duties
A. Each captain shall take possession of the “Rules” and have his/her copy in his/her possession on league night, making it available for the team to read at their request. If a captain should lose his/her rulebook or it is misplaced, there will be a $10.00 charge for a replacement.
10. Team rosters
A. A team roster shall be completed by all team captains
B. Completed team rosters for all Leagues must be submitted on or before the published date to be affected into a schedule. There must be at least four (4) players. You may have up to eight (8) players on your rooster per season. Each player on your rooster must pay an individual membership due of $5.00 per season.
C. Subs on any roster must play at least once within the first 3 weeks of the season. NO new player sub will be allowed to play if they have not played a min of 1match in the first 3 weeks. If a sub that has not played in the first 3 weeks, all the game that were played by such sub will be forfeited.
1.New Players to the league must play within the first 3 weeks.
D. Sub may be added up until the 3rd week of the season. If a sub is added on the 3rd week he/she must play that week.
E. “Completed Team Rosters,” means names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses (if applicable). The GMDA administration will work with the captains to complete this needed information to build our database. NO ROSTER WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT APPROPRIATE DUES AND FEES.
F. The owner / operator agent will make all decisions concerning a player’s eligibility.
G. Every effort will be made to accept late team rosters, depending on where the process is of scheduling play.
H. Once the roster and monies have been submitted, teams will not be allowed to change pubs except under extreme circumstances, and then only with the prior approval of the owner/operator.
11. Pre Match Duties
A. Thirty minutes before match play, the home team should clear the boards of play so that all match participants can warm up.
B. Both the home and away teams are responsible for providing a complete scorecard
C. DO NOT list a player who has not shown up for the match. If a team is short, it lists the present players in their places and begins play. The appropriate manner for handling this situation is as follows: If it is known that a player will be late, leave his/her correct slot open. The player can start when he/she arrives.. If your highest Point player is going to be late. List the three present players leaving the slot open for the late player. When the player arrives, place his/her name in their slot at that time. The late player can begin play at that point in the match.
D. Any team that plays an ineligible player shall forfeit any game that the illegal player was involved in.
E. Changes or substitutions after the scorecard has been filled out will be allowed only in case of an emergency where a listed player cannot finish the match and must leave the building. Circumstances must be noted on the scorecard. The replacement must be a member on your roster.
F. Home teams always shows the cork, cork every game. The home team player that is corking MUST announce that they are corking before his/her dart is thrown
G. The total darts in ‘01 must be recorded on the scorecard so that PPDs can be established for determining future play. If a scorecard is signed and the amount of darts thrown and the darts remaining are KNOWINGLY INCORRECT, it is considered cheating and the offending players and captains will be handled accordingly. If scores cannot be recorded please note circumstances on the scorecard. If a scorecard is not fully filled out and games with missing information will be considered a lose
H. Both captains, in the appropriate place, must compare scorecard, sign the scorecard. Once both captains have signed the scorecard, it cannot be altered.
I. Once the scorecards are turned in, the home team scorecard is used to do all the averages.
12. POST MATCH DUTIES

B. Leave the completed & signed score sheet in the binder along with weekly fees and give the binder to the bar tender. GMDA will pick up the binder from each home bar. GMDA will also deliver both binders (home and visiting team) to the bar day of league play. Money from both teams have to be paid each night or cannot play next week which will result in forfeits.
C. Weekly scores and other league information will be available as soon as possible after the match on the GMDA website (www.gmdastl.com)
13. POSTPONEMENTS
A. In the event of an unforeseen emergency, the team captain must get a hold of the owner / operator to approve a reschedule if the opposing team captain agrees to postpone the match. Both captains should then decide the make-up date and ensure the owner / operator has been notified prior to 4:00pm on the day of the scheduled match. The owner / operator shall approve/deny the reschedule and make-up date. In all cases, good sportsmanship should prevail.
B. If rescheduled and approved, Captains are responsible for the notification of their respective players. If a team does not have enough players (3 players minimum) they will play short handed and every time the missing players turn is up it will be skipped.
C. In the event of severe inclement weather, the owner / operator may declare a league postponement. In this event, all GMDA matches for that date will be postponed. All captains will be notified of the postponement and it will be posted on the League Website prior to 6pm on the date of postponement. In this case, the owner / operator will set a make-up date.
14. Players responsibilities and behavior
A. Good sportsmanship and common courtesy are expected at all times.
Heckling or other harassment is forbidden. A team may make as much noise as it wants while it is throwing, but must remain quite while the other team is throwing. All players and spectators must give each thrower plenty of room to throw, and refrain from undue movement or motion in or near the dart board lane to eliminate distractions.
B. Physical or sexual harassment/abuse will not be tolerated and can result in suspension or termination of both parties relative to the circumstances as well as possible criminal charges.
C. Loud, disruptive and/or obnoxious behavior as well as foul language will not be tolerated. The owner/ operator will advise offenders. Repeat offenses will result in the player being barred from league play.
D. The owner / operator reserves the right to suspend or terminate any player, team or pub whose actions and/or conduct is not in the best interest of GMDA and its league players
15. Team line up
A. Substitutes will not be allowed to cycle in and out of the match. Substitutes can play but must play the entire match. Should an emergency arise where a listed player cannot finish the match and must leave the building, a substitute can be inserted to finish the match. The Director/Player Agent must be notified and circumstances noted on the scorecard. All team members must play 1 week over half a season (in a 14 week season 8 weeks need to be played) to be eligible to play in the playoffs or Finals.
16. Player loyalty
Once a player has thrown for one team, he/she will NOT be allowed to throw for another team during the same season. Any substituted illegal player used and discovered will result in forfeit of any and all illegally played games. Further action will be considered by the owner / operator should circumstances warrant.
17. Player resignation
A. Should a player resign from a team, he or she will not be allowed to rejoin that or any other team later in the same season.
18. Player termination
A. A player who has been terminated by the owner / operator may not join another team until the next season, if at all, depending on the circumstances of his/her termination
19. Equipment
A. Pub owners and the home team captains are mutually responsible for assuring adequate facilities, which must be deemed appropriate for play by the owner / operator.
B.Three (3) darts per player are required to play. They are limited to a maximum length of 8 inches and a maximum weight of 30 grams.
20. Dart boards
A. The boards to be used will be one of the following: Meramec, Valley, Cougar, or Shelti. The toe line will be 7’9” from the board, with the toe line firmly stuck in place.
B. Some boards allow you to back up the score. This will not be allowed under no circumstances. If there is a board malfunction you must play it out, unless all players involved in that current game agree to restart the game completely over. No restarting the game from where it malfunctioned at. It is the player who is throwing to make sure the board has switched over to his/her turn. If a player throws and the board has not switched over then the darts thrown will count as they are, if a player notices before he/she throws all three darts they may go up and push the button to switch to his/her turn and throw the remaining darts for their turn. Please check the board to make sure it has switched because this could be the difference between winning and losing that game.
C. Lights must be affixed in such a way as to brightly illuminate the board, reduce to a minimum the shadows cast by the darts and not impede the flight of the dart. Fluorescent lights are recommended.
21. The Match
A. Starting time of the match is 7:30pm with a grace time of fifteen (15) minutes to produce a roster, or 7:45 pm. The team then has 15 min for all players on the roster to be present. If a team is short a player and no one is available for a sub, the game must begin and the team play short with the “short team” forfeiting a shooting turn in sequence.
B. If a late player shows up, he/she can then be listed on the scorecard and play the rest of the game.
C. It is expected that both teams shoot the match expeditiously and without stalling or delay. Instances should be reported to the owner / operator who will address the matter.
D. may consist of 301, cricket, 501, team 301 and team cricket games
E. The warm-up period is prior to the start of match play shall be limited to three (3) darts per player. No player currently participating in a game may practice on any board.
F. A throw shall consist of three darts, thrown one at a time unless the game is completed in less than three darts. A dart shall be considered thrown when it leaves the hand while in a forward motion.
G. Dropped darts do not count and may be picked up and shot.
H. A player who shoots out of turn will forfeit the rest of his turn and his next turn. Any darts thrown out of turn will count.
I. Infringements of the toe line will be brought to the attention of the captain and thrower the first time only as a courtesy. Subsequent violations will result in the offending player losing his next turn. Be courteous.
J. If there is a tie in the bonus game, the team with the most wins in the nights 301 matches will be declared the winner of the bonus game.
22. Forfeits
A. A match forfeit is declared when a team fails to attend a match as scheduled.
B. A match forfeit will be declared when one team has less than three players present and there has been no communication from those absent as to their tardiness or intention to show up, and no subs are available.
C. The team who showed up for a match that is declared a forfeit will receive an average of their team’s match points figured after week 6, so if forfeit happens before week six no points will be given until after week six, and that will be the average of wins for the first six weeks total wins or if forfeit happens after week six it will be your average of total wins for all weeks. No achievements can be earned/assumed with a forfeit.
D. Two forfeitures from a team during a season of league play may result in the team being suspended from further competition for the season.
E. A match or game forfeit may be declared anytime where, in the opinion of the owner / operator, it becomes necessary to discipline a player or team, to arbitrate a dispute/protest or in cases where it becomes necessary to get a pub to comply.
23. Refunds
A. In no case shall forfeitures or disqualification be cause for a refund of dues.
24. Protest
A. Disputes or disagreements during play are expected to be resolved between the captains in accordance with the rules of GMDA. GMDA also recognizes that the rules may not cover every conceivable problem. In matters that cannot be resolved between the captains, an attempt to contact the owner / operator should be made.
B. The league, in an attempt to minimize disputes and protests, has made available to all team captains the owner / operator cell phone number for rules interpretations. This number is for the sole use of team captains (acting captains). Greg Hertlein owner 314-486-2779
C. If unable to contact the owner / operator the protesting captain must, at the time of dispute, make his/her intentions known to the other captain. Before the game continues, the scorecard shall be marked at the point where the protest has arisen. The games and match shall continue thereafter. The protesting captain must file a written protest within 24 hours to GMDA along with $25. The protest should include all details of the dispute including, if known, the rules that were violated. Both captains are encouraged to file their versions of the dispute. The Owner / operator, upon receipt of the written protest, shall investigate and make a ruling. The owner / operator decision is final. Both parties shall be notified of the owner / operator decision by telephone or in person prior to the next regularly scheduled match. If the protest is won, the money will be returned. If lost the money goes into the league fund.
25. Playoffs
A. Playoffs and Finals will end the season’s competition. Playoffs will be the top four teams. Week 1 of playoffs you will have first place playing fourth place, then second place will be playing third place. The highest seeded team will be the home team threw out all of the play offs. Then the two winning teams will face each other for first and second place. The two losing teams will face each other the next week to determine third and fourth place.
B. The following method will be used for end of regular season tie-breakers in this order:

D. Playoffs will be a race to 13 with no bonus point for 301. If the playoff match becomes a 12-12 tie a team 501 game will be played, The game will be heads up no averages and all players listed on the score sheet will play in this 501 game in the order they appear on the score sheet.
E. You will pay for the first week of playoffs the full $28.00 per team but the second week no money due. Playoff wins are not included for the end of session payout per wins.
WE WILL BE USING THE NDA AND NOT THE ADA HANDICAP SYSTEM ON THE BOARDS.
